Guest Speaker Linda Coppleson to speak at Women’s Service on Saturday morning May 13, 2017 at 9:30 am.

Calling all CBI women!  Please come to Shabbat morning services on May 13, which will be a special Women’s Service.  Women of CBI are invited to participate both in designing the service and in leading the service by leading a prayer from our siddur, or offering a new prayer that expresses their perspective as a Jewish woman.  Women are also invited to participate in the Torah and Haftara readings, and to use the Women’s Service as a chance to brush up their reading skills, or to learn to read a few verses for the first time!

Linda Coppleson is a Conservative, egalitarian, Jewish ritual scribe and artist.  She is one a small number of scribes who are women (sofrot).  At our Women’s Service, Linda will speaking to the CBI congregation about the rigors and artistry of producing Torah scrolls and other sacred documents, and sharing her experiences as a Jewish women with a calling to take on the sacred art of a scribe.

Please contact Hazzan Kalver, by e-mail at hazzankalver@cbibr.org or by cell phone at 973-886-5574 if you want to participate.

At the service we will be three songs of Debbie Friedman, z'l.  Click on this link to the Music and Prayer area on our Web Page - http://www.cbibr.org/music--prayers.html - where you can find lyrics and links to YouTube videos for these songs and learn them now!
