How did Jewish settlers come to inhabit—and change—the New World? A New-York Historical Society Lecture Presented at Congregation B’nai Israel, Basking Ridge

On Wednesday, September 13th from 7-8 pm at Congregation B’nai Israel, 40 Whitenack Road, Basking Ridge, the New York Historical Society will present an off-site lecture on how Jewish settlers arrived in the New World in 1654 and follow them as they gained unprecedented political freedom in 19th century New York. This lecture mirrors the NYHS exhibition The First Jewish Americans: Freedom and Culture in the New World. We will gain insight into the struggle to remain distinct and socially cohesive amidst the birth of new Jewish American traditions. Cost is $10, children 13 and under free.
